What Do You Expect?

What Do You Expect?

Is the glass half empty or is it half full? The new answer on Facebook is “Get a new glass!”
I think that is funny, but the point is…what do you expect? Do expect the best? Are you optimistic or are you pessimistic?

Gloom, despair, and agony on me
Deep, dark depression, excessive misery
If it weren't for bad luck, I'd have no luck at all
Gloom, despair, and agony on me

Today we are going to examine the idea of expecting. Expecting a good outcome rather than a negative one. Expecting the best results possible if you put the work into it. Expecting surprises in life will come your way. Murphy’s Law does not always prevail. Sometimes you are blessed with the inexplicable and the miraculous.

When you cut into a wonderful looking watermelon on a hot summer day what do you expect to find?  Bananas or  avocados? No you expect to find a luscious red watermelon.

What Do You Expect?

The Bible says that you reap what you sow. You can expect it.

Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. Galatians 6:7 KJV

When a Kansas wheat farmer plants his crop, he has already tilled the ground [made preparation for the seed] then he puts the seeds in the ground. He knows that he in due time he will visit his field and see some great looking wheat stalks swaying in the breeze.

He knows he will not arrive at the north 40 and find an orchard of pear trees. He planted seeds for wheat. He can expect wheat to be growing in his field not pecans.

This same farmer can also expect that after he sows the seed it will take a little time for it to grow and mature before he can harvest his crop. What else does this farmer expect?

He expects

  1. Growing a crop is a process – planting, growing, tilling, watering, reaping, harvesting
  2. It takes time – the farmer won’t plant seed on Tuesday and expect a mature crop on Friday

What Do You Expect?

It’s funny to me that some people will offer up a prayer to God and when they don’t see anything happening right away they get discouraged or even mad at God.

It is also interesting that people who desire success in any give endeavor or field of interest must also be willing to put in the work required for such success.

The dictionary is the only place where success comes before work.

Many network marketers expect to build a business but are not putting in the time needed to learn how to promote, recruit, train, sell, convert or follow up.

And I’m sure you’ve heard this definition of insanity:

InsanityWhat do you expect? The best or the worst? You reap what you sow.
